Stamford, UK: Day 3

p1000666

A note I uploaded to the website on July 19:

It’s near midnight in the UK and I just tested the headlights on the Daihatsu. They work which I guess could be good or bad news, depending on your point of view.

Also, we painted the car today (horribly) and I fitted it with a roof-rack. We’ll be picking up a couple spare wheels and jerry cans once we get out of this “twice-the-price” country. I will try to post a picture of it all suited up tomorrow because I probably won’t get another chance to upload photos EVER AGAIN.

Also, we’ve heard that the other American teams have found themselves in a pickle with their cars. Turns out most of our cars bought on eBay aren’t in as good shape as the sellers promised. What a surprise! Well, that isn’t to say they don’t run so we will try our best to get as far along as we can. Yet, some parents’ wishes that we don’t make it to the Stans may be fulfilled. Yet yet yet . . . our car has had some pretty intense repairs that may give it a longer lease on life than one would expect.

Also, we’ve been interviewed by someone for a large yet-to-be-named news organization and possibly another high-profile yet-to-be-named television channel tomorrow. (Hint, I watched one of that channel’s shows non-stop last week in prep for the Rally.)

Tomorrow is the party in London and Saturday is the Rally Launch.

Driving on the right side of the road,

Cory
